WORKSHOPS
UP, BUT DOWN, BUT FAST, BUT SLOW, BUT WILD, BUT SENSITIVE
My research begins with the transformation of the language of breakdancing, exploring new forms, qualities, and dynamics, with a special focus on weight distribution and transfer, as well as the use of tension, relaxation, and body softness. The intention is to use weight as a physical element that allows us to move quickly and lightly, enhancing the creativity that emerges when the free parts of the body interact with the floor.
One of the main focuses of the workshop is how to lighten the hips in relation to the body as a whole and naturalize floorwork, discovering how the essential principles we apply while standing remain present when we move in contact with the floor.
We will also work on transforming so-called "tricks" into simple "movements," exploring creativity and the transitions that accompany them. During this process, we will pay attention to where we direct our focus and presence as we move, with the goal of revealing or hiding our points of support through the use of misdirection.
Throughout this exploration, we will occasionally play with bodily limitations to discover new routes of movement and better utilize the momentum of the available parts. In this way, by regaining access to the entire body, we will be able to move in a more efficient, organic, and fluid manner.
This workshop offers a broad and flexible space for exploration, making it accessible to people of different levels and backgrounds.
Finally, we will seek to integrate the acquired knowledge and physical awareness to play with physical theater, exploring characters and experimenting with movement and emotion as expressive tools.
