WORKSHOPS

DESCRIPTION AND UPCOMING WORKSHOPS

UP, BUT DOWN, BUT FAST, BUT SLOW, BUT WILD, BUT SENSITIVE

My exploration begins with the transformation of the language of Breakdance, turning it into other forms, qualities and dynamics with a great focus on the distribution and transfer of weight, and use of the body tension, relaxation, and softness. The use of weight as a physical element that allows us to move quickly and light, and all the creativity that exists with the parts that are free in relation to the floor.

There is a big focus on how to make the hip light, in relation to the whole body, and how to naturalize floorwork, and find how the main elements and principles that happen when we are standing, are the same that are applied when doing floorwork.

We will also explore how to convert the so-called “tricks” into simply “movements,” and we will work on the creativity and transitions around them. In relation to this, there is a great focus on were our focus/presence is in relation to the movements, in order to clearly show or hide the places that we push from, using missdirection.

Within this entire search, we will sometimes play with limitations in the body, to find new paths, and sometimes a better momentum with the rest of the parts that are available, so that, once we can access the entire body, we will function in a more optimal way.

The workshop gives a lot of space and freedom for the exploration, so that its accessible for people of different levels and backgrounds.
